Bin Sizes & Prices – Choosing the Right Size Bin?

We realize that it can be difficult to visualize the difference between bin sizes so we have put together the ‘Bin Sizes & Prices’ comparison table to help you to choose the right size bin for your rubbish removal job. Our range of skips and bins is second to none, so we’re confident that we can match the right size bin for your rubbish removal needs.

Good packing eliminates excess ‘air’ holes and ‘spaces’ between the items loaded in the bin. By spending a small amount of time packing bins, you will be able to get more into a bin. Cut tree branches into smaller pieces and pack them down. Breaking down items such as old furniture, etc., will ensure you get great value from using bins.

Getting Great Value from a Skip Bin!

We use our bins, so when it comes to packing bins, we have become very skilled in getting the most into a bin. A standard household wheelie bin is a 240-litre bin, which is a little over 4 wheelie bins for every cubic metre (see table below).

If you were to tip some wheelie bins into a skip bin, you would get at least this amount into every cubic metre. Remember that the type of rubbish in wheelie bins does pack down better than the type of rubbish most likely being placed in a bin or skip.

Bin Sizes & Prices

We have a range of specialised skips bins such as ‘skip bins with doors‘. These are available with swinging tail-gates, drop-down ramps or a wheelbarrow door (learn more about bins with doors). We also have certified crane bins when waste and rubbish need to be taken down from high-rise buildings or difficult locations. With such a wide range of skip bins, we’re confident we’ll make your rubbish removal job easier.

For the Big Bins 20m, 25m & 30m, weight limits are calculated in the pricing of bins. If the material in the bin does not reach the allowance, a discount/rebate may be available.

For loads that exceed the allowance, an additional disposal fee will be charged.

Its often difficult to explain all the variables about Bin Sizes & Prices , weights, locations etc. So if we haven’t answered all your questions, please contact our office for further information.

  • Due to the limited disposal options and higher disposal fees available for heavy loads in the Big Bins, these types of loads may incur an additional charge for some locations.
  • The cost of Excess Weight over allowance is $180 per tonne, depending on the waste type.
  • Maximum WeightsOn all Big Bins is 10 tonnes of waste (lifted off level ground)

If you are placing heavy items in a bin, be aware that larger bins have weight restrictions. It is difficult to explain all the variables that impact how much weight or heavy materials can be, placed in a bin. A bin is overfull when it can no longer be lifted or carried legally or safely. Road rules, design, moving and lifting capacity limitations and general safety impose restrictions that need to be followed to transport bins safely.

I’ve got a lot of Heavy Items/Materials.

It is essential if you need to dispose of heavy items, you discuss this with our office. If you are unsure, contact our office or visit our FAQ Page or Guidelines for Heavy Materials to read more.

How much rubbish can go onto a trailer depends on how high you are willing to pack it without overloading the trailer or making the load unsafe. If you are unsure or require any additional information after reading the Bin Sizes & Prices table, please contact our office.

Please Note: Bin dimensions are as near as possible guide as some differences exist when bins are manufactured, repaired or re-floored.
